You're a stirrer bud.

I was half expecting him to do it, but had no idea it was in the planning LOL. He's a mad fish keeper, we have one of the aquariums he made ages ago. He is going to make a 6 foot tank to put it in. It will probably grow faster than mine  Am actually looking forward to seeing it in the tank, get a different view! rather than from above all the time. I am actually hoping to score a big aquarium in a cabinet with undegravel filter etc that my folks have but aren't using at some time soon so I can put 5 or so inside too, to let get as big as possible and not eat them

for those stormy days, when you can't get out aquaponianging - just sit back and relax watching the fish (wild turkey in hand) :drunken:

Thought that seeing as AM was lining his fish up for a weigh in, I would do the same. Saw a pretty good sized on on his own so slowly put the net in, cornered him and woula! He weighed in at 75 grams, which I am stoked with, considering the one I seighed the other day was 50. I would be dissapointed if there were not some in there at 100g as he wasn't the biggest. Anyway, one pic at breakfast and one of Mr 75g

If you put some in the tank(if you get it) you will be able to see them hunt.
When mine was in the aquarium I would stick the odd bait fish/ sml yabby in to keep him active.
There is nothing quite like a barra stalking its feed and then BANG, no more bait fish and one happy barra.
They hit that hard you can actually hear it.

I went and saw B231 at his new home last night. They look cool in a tank eh. BIL put in 2 tadpoles about an inch long each and within seconds BANG BANG no more taddies. Quick as lightning.
A few minutes later, 2 more went in and BANG, but he struggled with it for a while, then spat it out, then just stalked them for the next couple of hours, rounding them into the corner and having a great time. Pretty cool stuff.

With all these people wighing their fish, I took another one out tonight, he weighed in at 85 grams. Nice looking fish too. That makes 39 in the poly tank.

nice pics there Monya
I still have to corner 1 or 2 to weigh (buggers still dont seem to trust me :?)
I will get them, just you wait

Right now Im more worried about my feed levels - they are getting pretty low and I need feed!
I sent an email off to ridley and got this back:

Hello David

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have a distributor in Cairns, only
here in Brisbane. Depending on the quantity of feed you wish to order, our
minimum is 1T and our distributor is anything from one bag up to one tonne.
Their contact details are:

Hay You Pet Supplies
Ph: 34200870
Fx: 34200820

If you need to purchase 1T of feed, we would require you to complete a
credit application etc. Or, if necessary, we can open a "Cash Sale" pre pay
account for you.

Please let me know if you require an account application and I can arrange
for the documentation to be emailed.

thank you

If I had a system that could hold that many barra to require 1T I would be a happy man!

bugger!
I realy like their food (not that I eat it, the fish like it! )
But it seems that I will have to find another way to feed my fishies - not that I have any ideas right now :(

try calling one of the local farms and asking if you can buy a bag from them. It will cost more, but you've got it.

I paid $60 for 25kg of 4mm barra pellets from a farm in town.

I have sent emails off to a farm which donated feed once, but no luck (I know they read it as I got a read reciept)
