Hi guys i have 3 half barrels with gravel and im planning to put 25L of clay balls which will be 5cm deep or so (should i go more?). Now how far from the top of the GB should i allow the water before the siphon kicks in?

If say i allow 1cm from top of the GB if i scatter seeds in will it reach it?

The Norm is around 25mm (1") otherwise Algea will begin to form.

50mm wouldnt be too bad, would allow the roots of the plants to move down into the gravel for more support.

Yeah 25-50mm and there will be enough moisture to germinate any seed in the clay balls. Germinated many small seeds with no probs. Probably better than in the dirt where the seeds can remain wet for too long. Go for it and you will be surprised

Water level should be about 25mm from the top of the media not the top of the grow bed.
