So Joel,

Am a grandparent or great-grandparent?

(to be honest these fish bonk so often I am losing count!)

I am so glad that you got your own fry from them!

Should I call you "daddy" from now on?

Chat soon...

Johnnie

After losing the first lot of fry I figured I wasn't going to lose the next lot, so when i saw yesterday that the second females eggs had hatched, I had to get them out..

Man what an effort, took over two hours, had to empty the aquarium of all other fish plants rocks etc and then spent most of my time trying to find the little suckers in amongst the stirred up water. Ended up with over 50 fry in the end... :)

The buggers a back at it again already.......

Nice going there Joel these fry look just like guppy fry to me.

I cant get mine too spit out any thing up until now its been 21 days since she's been in there

The tank does not have anything in it for her to hide in, could this be the problem?

Also she does not eat anything, to my surprise they were tons of mosquito larva in the tank i had to put in a next fish too eat them out.

EB - now that you have spent hours removing "the fry" from a tank (initiation ceremony) I can now advise of a quicker and easier way:

Use a length of flexible pipe (10-20mm diameter) and use it as a siphon to suck the little critturs up - don't have the height differential between bucket and tank water height too large and there will be little stress on "the fry".

If you make it clear tubing - you can watch them gleefully doing tumble turns
If you put in a mike - you can listen to the screams of delight

Water world in miniature for "the fry"

Hi Joel ..

Regards feeding ... you might want to try the following .....

1) Microworms ... they are attracted by the movement of the little nematodes .... (I have a culture for you)....

I think you must keep these little worms away from tomato plants though!

2) flake fish food ... mix it in your fingers with some water so that it becomes a paste.

3) infusoria - get a banana skin and place it in a bucket until the whole lot goes green ... crawling with little micobugs .... feed them a cup or so of the green water every day.

You could also liquidize some zuchinni and peas and try a little of that stuff as a suppliment.

I don't think the microworm cultures are the same nematodes that bother tomatoes.
