Trying to grow some mint floating in the tank - seems to be dying, not sure why? Maybe just hasn't established yet.

Great work Dek, YOU ARE VERY HANDY,
As OBO says dont rush it and dont over feed fish. All of the fish I have lost have been through over feeding. Buy BYAP feed as it has all the good stuff in it to make fish grow healthy. Get floating pellets. Feed, then wait 15min, scoop up floating pellets left after 15min. You will soon know how much they can eat.
Get a test kit for water if you havnt already got one.

I love this photo, such a simple process.

Welcome Dan,
Looking good, it looks like you are handier than you think.
The media looks like it might be floating. It might be a good idea to check the level when the bed is flooding, it should not come above the surface of the media as algae will grow in the sunlight. If it is as high as it looks you might need to trim down the stand pipe a little.

Thanks for the positive comments. I added more hydroton to the growbed Faye, it now floods to roughly 3/4, a few inches from the top. The top layer is totally dry so hopefully this helps keep the algae away! Thanks for the feeding info skipd, I will try that.
