Some area's around Mildura have had over 200mm in the last 24 hours. Water vapour from Cyclone Yasi is being drawn down into parts of SA and across Vic and southern NSW. Businesses and homes have been flooded and many roads are closed, but at least we haven't had the wind associated with the cyclone.

No rain, or wind, on the South Coast of NSW... the pressure band is pushing 40 degree heat down from Alice Springs instead....

Mum & Dad live in the same road as the Macclesfield trout farm.
They drove past it yesterday and had to push through about a foot of water across the road.
The lake had broken it's banks so I assume the races had as well...
There should be some good fishing downstream in the Woori Yallock creek.

Nasty fires over our way now... Strong winds, and tinder dry, reports of 20 odd houses destroyed with numerous fires in different areas. More gusty winds over night, could be a long night for some....

Man, crazy stuff with more floods over east, drought and fires here, huge storms in the US.......... :?

Plenty of it around today.

Was meant to be getting some soil tests done up on my (country) block today. Unfortunately the guy doing the drilling got bogged 200m in from the gate.

Had to ring a couple of people to locate a tractor to get him out. While doing that I found out that there has been 5.5 inches (140mm) of rain up there over the last 4 weeks. It also looks like there is at least another week of it to come (not complaining; I want a good season for the farmers).

To give you an idea - this area has a long term average of 350mm per year.
