Its always wise to quarintine new fish the hachery may be ok but the stressfull trip home then new surrounds ect ect
what salt to use !bunnings pool salt 3 ppt 3 kg per 1000 litres for a few days with an air bubbler dont feed
I think if you ask glenburn runs around 4 ppt all the time so going out of there home they are used to into your system
I have had a lot of fish from glenburn no problem
Where my system is designed when you put new fish in just close off that tank and salt then after a few days just open the valve and it incorporates with the system
As far as over salting salt does not build up in the system plants use it I last salted about 4 months ago i havent done water changes and my readings is almost 000 now

Thanks F&F, will shoot down to B fiirst thing and get some salt. I had 1 more dead this evening on my return from work and 1 cat is looking very unwell, hopefully they do OK over night and I can salt in the morning. I am assuming it won't hurt the trout in the main FT? :dontknow:

The idea of the isolation is excellent and the next phase of my system will allow for that. At this stage I have not had the time & $$$$$$$ to do the required work and needed to get my summer stock going.

Salted and it looks like death rate as slowed. Most fish looking healthy but a few are still flashing.
Have lost nearly all the cats, about 12 silvers and 6 bass.
Hope it stablizes soon. Luckily trout all seem OK and are still eating well. There are a cuple of monsters in there so hope I don't lose them till its BB time!

Deaths have stopped and hopefully all is returning to balanced (touch wood). Not sure what the issue was but will salt before new fish arrive next time

Over a week and no deaths so whatever was the issue seems to have sorted it self out. Pity I lost nearly 3/4 of the new additions.

Loving the fresh taste of the vegies striaght from the garden, last Night I had a really great AP salad. One small problem was the capsicum that I put in was actually a chilli so it had a nice bite to it. :D

Well had a bit on the last month with some chickens (4) and a pair of Indian runner ducks coming to join the family. This meant all hands and time on building fort chicken. This has been completed and today I started digging the large hole (1.2m x 2.2m x 1.2m) required for the new sump tank. :thumbleft:

The system seems to have stabilised and I have had no deaths for a while (touch wood) the summer or lack of as meant that I still have about 20 trout still in the FT and as soon as the extension is done will get another 50 or so fingerlings. Silvers will have to wait to next summer.

I took a couple of trout into work for the guys to eat and they went down a treat. The two I harvested weighed just over 600g. There are a couple in the tank at least twice that. Grow is Ok and I would expect to get a large harvest of tomatoes in coming weeks. Pics of Gb's to come over next few days.

Here are a few pics os the grow beds. Looking Ok and with a few holes I should plant some more over next few days. Going to try the diggers club seeds this time instead of seedlings and see how we go.

Here are a few pictures of the fish, hard while in the water but these are OK. Looking at getting more trout and keeping these going as weather has been favourable

The expansion is still not ready for operation (more digging required :( )
The vegies are looking good and tomatoes have even started to go red  . No fruit on the Eggplants yet but tried to do some artificial polenation a couple of days ago so fingers are crossed. Brocolli is coming up nicely and capsicums and chillies are good.

Looking at getting some more trout next week but not sure wher I can put them. I have trout from last year in the main FT and the fingerling tank has some silvers & australian bass which are still quite small :dontknow:
