i thought you must have had a fair few tanks, just with all the different types of fish you have. It's like anything eh, when you are good at it, and interested and it's rewarding, it can become addictive.

Aquaponics was the next logical step, actually i frist stumbled across EB's original site (before the forum was born) while looking up info on bacteria and cycling. Back then it was nested quite a few pages deep in google searches :) I saw the new forum as i used to bounce the aquaponics concept off a few people every now and then, and EB's site was my "show and tell"

until I stuffed my back (got a big disc bulge that won't go away, possible surgery later this year) I was renovating old houses and building a warehouse, doing gyprocking, tiling, painting landscaping etc. Now I'm stuck doing friggin paperwork, with a project 95% done that I can't touch for fear of putting myself back in bed for a month.

Not all bad though, indirectly I work for my folks, and although I clash with the old man  , it does give me a bit of freedom, and I can drop by the forum when I need a fix during the day... :D

This is what got me into aquaponics... (the pic below)... I want more tanks but the wife forbids me!! Ideally I would like a 7 or 6 foot tank to breed redclaw to slock a larger system (breed them, eat them etc). I will just wait a bit then spring it on her (I already have the light fittings for a 7ft tank, and an external filter will only cost $90...

I was looking into different designs for biofilters when a friend told me about this site - the rest is history!

Attachments:
File comment: I got this for free (actually, I mulched a huge garden at school and the business manager said I could have the tank as payment) - I now have a stainless framed tank but am yet to set it up.

Wish I was in Oz I'd come build your system for free Monya. Karma has always rewarded me well though patience is a neccessity.

I put my back out and it put me out of being physical for a long time. feel for you mate, very hard to see work you can do but can't...

exactly,
one day I'll take some photos of stuff I've done around the place here, stone retaining walls etc, that's why my back is stuuffed and the work I was doing. It's hard because I have all the bits, but I have to wait for able bodies to dig holes, lift stuff etc cause I can't afford another month off work...
Thanks AA, it's good to see your back is better and you are able to do the great stuff you are doing now. :D
