I have a green tank, but it's empty of rainwater. I have some photos here:

The green tank is 500lt. & I have 20 barramundi in it.
It is connected to 6 NFT channels on the end wall & the height of the top channel is 2.4 mt. (8 ft.)

The channels hold 105 plants, this lot are herbs, but my last crop were lettuce.
Very space saving.
Is it possible for other people to post their pics ?

Loz.

I've been researching my system for some weeks now and have been having a lot of fun trying to work out all the bits and how to put them together.

I live on a farm near Trentham so I'm looking forward to catching up with all those people who live in Melbourne and especially Sunbury since your so close.

Today I bought a green house?

Of course I've got masses of questions.

First 2.

q. How deep can the gravel beds be? I've read that they need to be at least 30cm but can they be 1m, 2m, more?

q. I understand that the animal to plant mass ratio must be maintained at a certain level but must the gravel be balanced with the nutrient load or can you have excess gravel?

Having fun allready.

Stuart.

PS Did I mention that I bought a green house?

Hi to all APs, been lurkin in for a while now and thought its a good time as any to show the face. Greatest forum I came acros yet.
I am in North Dandenong, have my backyard half full with pots.

Before the water restriction hit us have put everything onto sloping roof decking sheets, watering the pots trough dripers from a buried blue barrel and the water drains back to that drum.

Allready setup 5 b.barrels as tanks, filled up to settle down and check for leaks and now working on the grow beds.
My first idea was to flood and drain each bed in sequence, controled by solenoid valves bud the common irrigation solenoids restrict the water flow to much and the 0 presure valves prices are astronomical so decided to use a pump for each bed.
Tried 15 watt Aqua One, it filled empty half barrel in 12 min. not bad.
Have RIO 12 HF 35 watt to fill five b.barrel tanks from the drain tank.

Got my b.barrels from a trader from Thomastown sunday market, but since then found a drum recycler in Cahill Str., of Hammond Rd., for those in the area.
Did anybody tried Cymbidiums or other orchidss on AP.

Were born in Czechoslovakia, in Aus since '73 but my english is still rather limited, so pls do excuse my grammar.
Cheers, Steve S

Welcome Steve S,
don't worry about your limited grammar... there are heaps of us on here that still don't have the hang of it! and we've been doing it all our lives :)
