Thanks Guys!

Hi Faye, really want to grow trout if I can get planning permission?

Or may be a floating cage in the main tank. Only want to grow 3 or 4 trout.

Would prefer the 2nd system as I said above to be able to have a nursery/hospital tank.

Melbourne looks to be finally having some hot summer days coming up. Not that I'm complaining as it's been a loverly mild summer.
31 today, 40 tomorrow and 39 on Monday.

Think I will turn the system over to a siphon set up from F&D, found this helped the last time we has a couple of hot days.

All the new plants seem to be powering along, just about to have out 1st AP tomatoe!

Image

I did read some where the tomatoes won't fruit if the Ph is above 7? My system runs a constant 7.8 - 8.0, the 1st couple if plants did do well still I started to add iron and Seasol.

I have put covers over the dirt garden to help with the heat, haven't made a cover for AP system yet on the list.

Image

Just filled the hole left from the old fish pond we had the test AP system in. Going to buy 2 corrugated raised beds to make wicking beds to grow tomatoes. I found a guy in Wallan who custom makes them, will get him to put bottoms in them so we won't need to line the bottoms with plastic.

Ok it's been awhile since I last up-dated.

I have been increasing the food to the Sp's while the water has been hot and everything has started to take off. I may have been under feeding as I was scared of getting my number too high.

But the system as taken it in it's stride. The water has started to cool off now, down to 16˚c the past few days. I have backed the food off as the Sp's are not as hungry.

Also while I was in Adelaide last week for the Caravan and Camping show I stumbled upon what is called a Thumper, it's a specially made storage/battery and picked one up as a show special. This is the smallest at 15amps. They have huge ones that will run fridges for days.

This is the start of my back-up system.

The weather here can not make it's mind up at the moment, cold and rain one day then a string of hot days and nights. I not complaining about the warm weather it means the SP's are eating again. Trying to get them fattened up as fast as I can.

I haven't done a water test for a few weeks as I have been either interstate or flat out and the wife has been feeding them when she remembers?

Not sure why our 9 weeks daughter has priority over feeding the fish?

The system is all looking really good, need to get some dipel as the caterpillars are making a mess of the cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli.

Might wander out and do the water tests and take some photos.

Just been out and tested the water:
Ammonia .25, Nitrite 0, PH 7.4 - 7.6 it's hard to tell as it's crossing over on the cards.

Thanks Abdul,
It's all coming along nicely, since I have been either away or flat out at work for the past 6 weeks and the next six aren't any better.
Just as long as the wife remembers to feed the fish once and awhile all will be good.
