We haven't had rain for a while central Qld.
Road is still blocked heading to Bundy, but you can get there the long way.
I was thinking of going in, to get some supplies in case another big storm came through.
Just the staples, rice, beans, pasta, tinned stuff, cereal,UHT milk, chocolate and beer.
Our town ran out of fuel for a while too, as all the boats hoarded so they could do food and people runs.
Still early into the wet season too and the ground and rivers have been wet all year, we had the wettest dry season on record and they are expecting 6 cyclones this year too, so the real stuff hasn't started yet.

I am in N/W Vic, and we have had isolated patches of heavy rain over the past 24 hours. The road at the front of our house was under water this morning and we are just managing to control the flow from flooding most of our property for the 2nd time in less than 2 months. (We were flooded late November). The forecast is for more rain over the next few days,(help), but it could be worse, like in parts of Qld.

I've been listening and watching the news live,

Watching boats attached to moorings rocketing down the Brisbane river.

Watching containers float down rivers and hearing of a freak'n big white tank wiping out the pub of a country town, now they have no beer.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those families and friends of those lost,

Personally my friends are OK in Brisbane, my cousin in Toowoomba is flooded out but OK, his sister car was in the driveway and got swept and totaled.

How's all of our other forum members in Queensland?

It just shows the force of mother nature when she flexes her muscle, nothing and no one gets in her way.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you folk in Queensland. and please, stay out of the water for goodness sake, remember only a foot of water in a torrent can knock you off your feet.

Cheers.

Gonna be interesting when we get home to Horsham on friday. Mt William which is the catchment for the wimmera river 137mm last night and Horsham airport 101mm. Lake Lonsdale which Mt William creek runs into is 100%. All the creeks and the river were already flowing.

Some areas here have received about 200mm in the past 2 day's, with 100mm forecast for tomorrow. Our annual rainfall is normally about 300mm, so some areas could get our annual rainfall in just a few days!
Photo of the weir & lock in flood. The river is supposed to peak here next week, but that may be revised with all the latest rains.

Nothing to QLD's disaster however

Bendigo and surroundings have had approx another 130-160mm in 4 days, and they are beginning to let water out of Lake Cairn Curren which is likely to flood Bridgewater and surroundings again. and there is more rain to come!!!

i have friends on a rural property who have been buying water for the last 8 years, they have had no feed for stock and have had just acres of Dust. i was out there last week and its so green and they have 350 Goats running now with plenty of greens, and are looking to now expand to another 400 or so.

they have 4 full dams that have been dry for years and after the Hervey rains in November a lot of the water soaked in so this will now keep them full. and with 4 new tanks installed and full they are looking good for a while. its good too see as they have concidered selling up and giving it all away as the main income from the land was running goats and cattle.

i cant help but feel for all the farmers out there that after so much drought they are now kicked in the ass with the one thing they have preyed for years to receive. hopefully there can be some crops salvaged and get some much needed Grains and Hay in stock after resources have been completely stretched over the last 10 years.

we have to love the very unpredictable mother nature and maybe this will enforce the need for carbon emission reduction, and people taking care of this earth of ours a little more!!!

Picked up sister & family from airport on tuesday evening after they left brisbane to get away from the flood. Turns out their house has been ok but their suburb has been cut off & they didn't fancy being isolated without power & food.
Of all the ironies, since they got to Melbourne it hasn't stopped raining.
now they're heading to NE Vic & into more storms.
Maybe all those people who were praying for rain for the last 10 years should have stopped 3 years ago & we might not have gotten so much (just kidding)

Just to be perfectly clear, I never posted the pic of the lock & weir to compare with anything that's happening in Qld. Just thought that some people may be interested to see it as it's so different to what it usually looks like, and not something we see here very often.

Yep, we have also been buying water to keep our business going and almost gave up through the drought. The irony is that our property (& business) has just been flooded (have had more than our annual rainfall in the past few days), and now we have no choice but to close until the water subsides and we can clean up the mess!

Another 55mm over night and now the sun is out I had a interesting drive to work Image

Come across a few low spots with water running across the road, this was about 200m of road prob 250mm deep, in a very dark 80 zone, we hit it last night bout 10pm when it was about 100mm deep over 20m of the road. Seen another car do the aquaplane across the water... Crazy shot!!

I hope when they do the autopsy of why the floods happened so severely,we all remember Joh and his bulldozers clearing rain forest and burning it 'develop at all costs' .
In the 1950s a young Joh Bjelke-Petersen came up with the idea of using an enormous chain strung between two tractors to drag down great swathes of bushland. He later went on to become Premier of Queensland.
wet...

just over the rain..we have had some sunlight over the past few days.. on the sunshine coast we were alot luckier than most... chainsaws town was very wet..there was flooding around it but i havent heard of any houses being inundated...

i hope the members in and around toowoomba are ok..

the scary statement is that there is predictions for the wettest jan, feb and march on record.... best photo of the floods was qld rugby league hero wally lewis's statue having floaties and a snorkle and mask...

i have lost my home phone and internet due to too much water.. otherwise i would find and post the photo..

nice to see the victorians getting some rain.. even if it is a bit too much..
