This is what I did with an airlift pump when messing with hydroponics .. worked great. (The pump is the "spike in the nutrient bucket.)

Note that there is minimal head in this system.

Remember Axl's lovely picture of the poo pipe? Here is a posh version of it. Costs $60.
FIL made his from leftover pipe.

Are you able to get a consitant water ejection with your home build?
I have tried building this unit and just got frequent small bubbles pushing some water up.
I really don't think that the diagram there shows all components in the true geyser pump.
Take a look at the website of the actual unit. http://www.geyserpump.com/

I have spoken at length with the inventor and he was very adamant that he would not reveal its actual inner workings, and dimensions. He wanted to protect it from replication to keep a consistent quality, (and probably some rightful money in his pocket from the research and developement he has put into it. He discounted the diagrams posted elsewhere on the internet such as the site you posted.

I could not get my home built one to release all the air in the chamber.

(Try building a transparent one to see if you succeed)
I have been stumped with this device for some time.

No moving parts, but a controlled FULL release of all air in the chamber.

Raimiuso, my FIL built this one to clear out blocked septic tanks, literally it is the poo pipe. I've only seen it the once, but Axl's pic looks like I remember.
The garden hose is clicked onto one end, a VERY long length of poly pipe is on the other outlet. You turn on the hose and the poo comes out the other (far away) end.
From memory it is made of copper pipe and a couple of fittings.

Raimiuso, it think you and jaymie are talking about two different things.

Hers uses mains water supply jetting through a venturi to create suction that "sucks" poo (or whatever ;)) the outlet discharges supply water + "sucked" water

They geyser is an airlift pump, using air to lift the water, completely different principle too.

School science labs use a similar version (vacuum pump) for filtering chemicals etc. etc.

Here is a diagram of a geyser pump.

raimiuso, the one in the pictures on the previous page is clear plastic and the pic showing the water flowing out was about a 3-4 second cycle,
held a bucket under it and got just over a litre in a minute (this was with a 2.6lpm battery operated air pump),
the large sized air bubble travelling up the clear pipe suggests that a lot of air was being sucked out of the chamber (may not be all the air but a large percentage of it).

I'll be doing further testing with it using larger pipes and a few other mods, but the airlift pump that "geysers" (shown on the previous page) worked fine in its jury rigged state (thanks for that Janet  )

To be honest, I don't think I have replicated what the inventor has done with a Geyser" pump, what I have done is used the auto-siphon principles and then reversed that - which is working so far

Les, there used to be a few video clips on the inventors website, don't know if they're still there. might help in replicating it. Stumbled across it quite a while ago

Nice work for sure Ell, that set up would allow me to get rid of my little pond pump in my mini systems ( I think), just dont have the time to replicate it and see. Keep it up! if you can.
