Just planning them and naming the systems is not an obsession :laughing3:

These white splotches appeared on a few fish, and grew - and then killed them.

When they went in the tank, the water temperature was about 17 or 18 degrees, then the weather turned, it it was suddenly 11 degrees. Today it's back to 18 degrees. Rupert's best guess - SAP, exacerbated by stress, from sudden water temperature changes.

Never having kept fish before, I thought dead ones floated... but when I eventually turned off the air pump so I could see the very bottom of the tank, there were several down there.

On Rupert's advice, I salted the tank, but it seemed these ones were too far gone. I have today replaced almost all of the water - just leaving enough to keep the remaining fish going - and resalted.

The remaining fish have no splotches - and are alive, thus far - so here's hoping.

Yes, I have salted - but maybe too late.

I have since replaced nearly all of the water and resalted.

Happily, none of the survivors are showing any signs of the illness.

Yesterday was bloody hot - 40C in the shed, 21C in the fishtank - and they actually fed, taking floating pellets for the first time!

Got some work done on the Aquaponics Flower II. Taking out the old workbench/sink (the timber will be reused:

I'm just off now to fire up the chainsaw and take the post out.

Now there's room for the new system.

Like an idiot, I nicked a wire with the chainsaw, so I have to fix that; I'll run it through the fluoro and join it inside with BP connectors.

Bench frame going in (reusing the old bench timber):

Nothing's square, of course.

Here's the (nearly) finished item. The top is old kitchen counter from before the renovation (the rest of it is now a counter in the laundry). The sink was sitting out the back of a shop we drove past; went in, asked the question, and drove away with a lovely deep sink for free.

Still need to plumb it - water and waste:

I just do as I'm told: "Build me an Aquaponics system." "OK, dear."

"Build me another Aquaponics system." "OK, dear."

"Tote dat barge! Lif' dat bale!" "OK, dear."

Fish all look good; thank you for your help.

I don't seem to achieved much today, but I'm rooted.

A trench dug for a system drain, another for a sink drain, and cleared the area for the new system:

Might be a reaction to the state of Australian Cricket.
