Caught a big mussel in one of the yabby nets in the local river. Question is , is it safe to put in my aquaponics system, and if not how do I quarantine it, so that I can. At the moment it is in my duckweed tub (not connected to any system) in the greenhouse.
What I mean is do they, can they carry any disease that could effect the fish????

hmm, an after thought, dunno why I am asking as I have already dropped yabbies from the river into the sump

Anyone know a supplier that would deliver in or to WA. No mussels in rivers around Newman would love to put some in

Hi Mantis - I bought 10 Freshwater Mussels from Ausyfish about 8 months ago - they are in the fingerling tank where I used to keep my Yabbies. All good so far. Regards - Colin

Is there any risk of their offspring growing in the pipework?
