Hi All

I'm a newbie and looking to get started on the journey of home aquaponics. I live near in Littlehampton (near Mt barker) and looking for advice in selecting the type, setup, placement etc. I'd be particularly appreciative for local knowledge/experience and maybe even a visit if it was convenient.
Some liquid amber incentive could be provided :)

Anyone able and/or willing?

Yo from Port Pirie.. 200k's north of adelaide..

Am in the process of putting together a small IBC/BB system.. The ~900l tank and ~400l sump are in place along with half a BB growbed and a recycling crate floating raft tank so far.. Am messing about with DIY 2 in 1 filter while cycling with urea, when that's all done I hope to throw in 50 SP, hopefully in the next couple of weeks..

Hardest part so far has been finding sources for materials.. I even 'upgraded' from my original plan of doing a barrelponics type system to the IBC's because i couldn't find a source for less than 50 fish..

Looking forward to getting to know some 'locals' and seeing some other systems..

Amph..

Hello every one,

Location: Port Pirie Till a month ago - located in Laura Now!

New member, have been a long time reader of this forum, been planning a system for some time, and only just got it started so I’ll probably be pestering people about problems as I go along.

I'll hope to post info about system tomorrow, e.g. design size fish plants and such forth

No wonder you're getting into aquaponics, you moved away from all the fish!

Good luck with the new system.

I go to Laura every time i need Timber.. needed some hardwood decking to make a tank lid last week.. the only place here that has it, $7 per meter.. same hardware chain over there 30 k's away, $3.65/mtr.. grr..

Interested in seeing your system info.. I need to get a system thread going for mine soon too..
Hailstorm smashed up all the plants the other day so it's not very photogenic..

Amph..

Anyone familiar with 'aggies aquarium' in Pooraka? I've been there once a few months ago because i happened to walk past it going to kollectors korner, and they just looked like your average aquarium shop, but I just found them on a 2006 list of south aust native fish suppliers for farm dams..

@wolve: Must have missed that post..

Sounds like my dream job.. well maybe 20 years ago..

I did go into tell 2 years ago, i moved to PP about 2 and a half years ago, and went there once or twice before i knew better.. bought a 'gaming mouse' that moved all over the screen all by itself that i returned..

We think it is about time that we had another Adelaide get together. We dont have any fish to show off, and this time of the year is pretty hot in the green house. But we thought we might have a 'how many ways can you prepare trout' party. We can smoke some and bbq some and even do some crumbed. Any one interested?
