My daughters of 13 and 15 dont show much interest either. Maybe when the fish are bigger they might get a bit more excited. :dontknow:

Between the ages of 12 & 21 to show interest in a parents' activity would have the child thrown out of the union.

I'm prepared for the teenage years lack of interest. I kinda figured that the foot long SP that we put in with the fingerlings would get the attention of a 5 year old. The best I get is an occasional 'hey look, a goldfish!'

Nice smiles!

We've never gotten that reaction from either of our kids (3 and 5) about anything that we've added to the yard.
I reckon that in our efforts to not spoil them with lots of rubbish toys they are now spoiled by all the other stuff that we've done. Chooks, ducks, fish, gardens, goats... It's us that does the wide eyed amazement thing, they just reckon everyone else must have all this too.
Maybe we need to get them out more.

Nice smiles indeed... sigh.

I can live without wide-eyed amazement - but we're trying to teach the kids (by example) that you can do anything if you just start.

I just want them to be capable. People whose skills end at the changing of a lightbulb shit me.

Haha, yeah. Eating anything green or aquatic is apparently against the rules as well. Mind you, I dont care if they never eat yabbies :)

Thirty (thank you, Rupert), between 100mm & 200mm.

I fear my water may end being a bit cold for them, though - 14C today.

Yeah, I don't think they'll die... but they won't eat, and if you don't eat, you don't shit.

And the great joy of aquaponics is - as I keep saying to people "...and the fish shit in the water..."

They will still keep making ammonia, nibbling on algae etc. I didnt think my silvers were eating much when my tank was covered in algae and I couldnt see them. Just made an effort to black out the tank and sump completely, and broom off the algae, and now i see they have grown heaps. Tank temp has rarely gone over 20 and down to 15 mostly
One day when the temp hit 22, the silvers actually hit the food at the surface
Bloody crappy weather :upset:

Aquaponics Flower II is underway.

We've just been to The Big Green Shed at the Canberra tip - what a joyous place!

Four corner spas & three pressed metal baths for $140, and we didn't clean them out. I want to go straight back and buy the 31 more baths we need for Wall O'Baths I & II, but Kathy says "one thing at a time..."

You can get a lot of stuff on a Hilux if you have enough ratchet straps:

Love that pic michaeslhewitt. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
I reckon the caption to that phootgraph could be
"Yup! Hook, line and sinker as another takes one up the AP obsession"
(Aquaponics Anonymous)

Umm, yeah... maybe.

I won't count it an obsession until Wall O'Baths I & II are in!
