Yep, your new sheeting is much nicer..... :D

What is particularly nice about it is that it is 2400gsm Alsynite at under $5 a lineal metre...

They like the step. Will be funny to see then chasing pellets on there once they get to plate size.

Well, you say that, but several of them seem quite keen to jump out...

The new tenants seem to have settled in; they're all just cruising around, looking calm. No-one's floating on their backs, which I take as a good sign.

This guy, however, was found under the water outlet in a growbed; he obviously stowed away with the bigger ones. I doubt I can get a fillet off him:

Poor little sod :(
You will have to remember him if you ever get small fingerlings and modify the outlet :wave1:

Yeah. Although I suppose he would only have ended up in the belly of one of his bigger brothers, anyway.

I have some gutter guard around the bottom of the SLO drains - but it's about a 10mm square mesh, so fingerlings of his size will go straight through.

It will be a bit of a dillema, really - very small mesh (flyscreen?) and associated blockage problems?

Really, though, given the small price differential between the fish I have - which seem to range between 100 & 200mm and maybe even bigger - and 50-70mm fingerlings, I can't see myself buying the tiddlers anyway.

Yeah I like the idea of advanced fish, for the few $ extra it can be a good investment.. We got a trout from Troutman a couple of years ago that was about 50cm long. It was great to have such a big fish in the system for a while, unfortunately he could jump really well..

That's a bugger.

A couple of these Silver Perches are quite good jumpers, too - but I have a corrugated iron cover over the fishtank. So, standing beside the system, there's a periodic ringing clunk as some silly fish's head hits the corrugations...

10mm should be small enough to stop fingerlings, so the fish in the pic must be very small

Kathy's Christmas present - the new roof - is done.

Although, I expect her to work for her presents:

The downside to second-hand fibreglass sheeting - the odd hole. Although, in the entire roof, I there were only four holes, one ragged end and one entire sheet short, which had to be made up of three offcuts, so I'm well pleased with the purchase:

Done (the two bricks you can see are temporarily weighting down patches whilst the silicon adhering them cures):

Nice smiles!

We've never gotten that reaction from either of our kids (3 and 5) about anything that we've added to the yard.
I reckon that in our efforts to not spoil them with lots of rubbish toys they are now spoiled by all the other stuff that we've done. Chooks, ducks, fish, gardens, goats... It's us that does the wide eyed amazement thing, they just reckon everyone else must have all this too.
Maybe we need to get them out more.
