These were like the ones I'd seen before in use at city farm, they were the ones they said were about $500 each. We nearly ended up with one but I felt guilty and had to give it back.

Will keep searching to see if I can find a cheap alternative, would be nice to get some mid to long term water usage data, even if plant growth rates are different, it will be interesting to follow..

i think the bucket will do just fine as a water measurement tool along with a mark in the FT that shows where the water will be topped up to.

Very exciting experiment, should yield some pretty conclusive results in a few months :thumbright:

First pictures to compare the plant growth in the systems. The auto siphon is now working :)

The next few weeks will be interesting.

Lettuces seem to be doing better in the constant flood and timed flood beds but the rest are close so far

Might be a bigger difference once the systems age a little. Another thing that could be checked later is how solids go in each system. Push a bit of PVC into the media and remove the clay from inside it. Wash and measure what settles.

The sad thing is I do not partake in that sort of thing, just like watching it work!

Do you think I might need professional help? :support:

Yeah, not a lot of difference at the moment..

System 3 does seem a little better with many of the plants, but really way to early to tell much yet.
