IBC tank fills up then syphons down about 6-8 inches then breaks the syphon and fills up again

thinking about putting some salt in my system to help with skin deisise on the barra got abot 2000ltrs of water any one know how much and what type of salt i should put in thanks

3ppt, so for 1000l 3kg. for 2000L 6kg. i keep mine at about 1-2ppt constant, had it up to 5 wheni put the barra in. do it slowly, fill up a tub with the salt and let it dissolve over a few days. use pure salt, not iodised. i use flossy saly from AQ shops. BYAP also sells salt

got board of trying to feed my barra pellets so iu am now feeding them minnows cause i found them eating flys of the top of the water but they love the minnows :headbang:

built a new shade house-cover for over my pond but also had a barra die last night looked like it had no scales on it and was very pale almost white any ideas what it was

Hi Deegsta,
Just read back through your thread and wondering how many fish are in there now and what size are they, also did you remove the trout at some stage?
Did you salt the system before adding more barramundi?
If you have a test kit, what are the readings as this is useful for people trying to help with problems as the results give an indication as to what might be going wrong. The more that you can tell us the better.

hey i think there is about 10 barra left in there out of 22 about 15 to 20 cm long but can not see them amnonia is about 0 to .25 have added salt to it 20kgs to about 2300ltrs of water ph is a tad hight about 7.8 i guess minnos there are a few left but they are in the other tank

20kgs of salt to 2300litres...it should have been 6 or 7 kgs to 2300litres

Yep, you've salt bathed them.... no harm if they've survived it so far...

But I'd do a 50% water change to bring the salinity back down....

whoops i have had to top it up a bit through the heat wave is there anyway to test the salt level thanks guys

that could be y my mussels died and the plants are struggling will dump some tomorrow thanks

Who ever said Barra wernt a good fish to feed put 200 minnows in there and watch them chase the little suckers around awsome fish to watch when they are hunting Very quick
