Ta da!

2 welded grow bed stands.

Just like I predicted, my welding improved amazingly by the end of my little project. Just in time for me to put the welder back in the shed and forget everything that I've learned again.

Won't annoy the neighbours further by getting the angle grinder out at 9pm to clean up my messy bits so that's me done for the night.

Picked up the tank today. Corrugated iron costs more but aesthetics also has to play a part in our small yard. The corrugated iron matches the outback system that we have already as well as the raised garden beds.

Just gotta move that outback system about 3 meters to the right. Even without water, pretty damn heavy. Need more hands! I think the promise of beer this afternoon will get the helpers that I need.

Otherwise all is going well. Looking forward to washing 20 bags of clay!

I love it when a plan comes together!

It's bloody hard to move one of those little grow beds; hope I don't have to move a big one.

Poor baby barra have been moved out of their home and back, will see how they go over the next few days.

Tomorrow will wash some gravel and head off to nursery to pick up some seedlings to get the system started.

Yeah, good use of paved area, but it turns out that that much weight identifies the unstable bricks. Whoever laid these pavers mustn't have compacted that bit properly. (oops: that was me!)

Image

Kinda weird, this only happened with one leg on one grow bed, so must have had an air pocket or a decomposing tree root underneath.

I've since jacked up that side and slipped another brick in the hole. Hope it has stopped sinking before I run out of spare pavers...

Planted out 1st bed.

Image

A bit of everything in there. Seedlings in greenhouse not quite ready to plant out so had to buy everything.

2nd bed would have been done too but I was short about a foot of 40mm PVC pipe. DAMMIT!

Off to the hardware shop again tomorrow.

I also pit 5 goldfish I'm there just because it looked a bit empty with no fish. Not that 5 goldfish necessarily makes it look crowded, but it makes me feel better. :)

Planning on putting SP straight in in next few days if I can arrange some.

Most of the text and all if the pictures that I just uploaded seems to have disappeared. Hmmm.

Summary of my day:
-washed clay
-washed clay
-washed clay
-went looking for heirloom tomatoes to plant- no luck. Saw them everywhere last week.
-bought 5 goldfish to put in tank so I could pretend I had fish.
-planted out 1st bed
-discovered I was short 1 foot of 40mm pipe so couldn't finish 2nd bed
-swore
-drank a beer
