John at glenwaters is very busy, had a bit of a chat there and a little look around... Nice setup, will be doing business there again. Also grabbed 1kg of 2mm Feed for $9.50 Provided Receipts and an Information Fact sheet on Silver perch, that has info about his license etc on it, plenty of Piece of Mind buying from such a professional.

Very nice drive from bendigo, up through Pylong, Broadford, Strathcreek (very nice Mountain drive 1.6k at 10% with about 5 hair-pins) then to flowerdale.

plants have suffered with the heat sneaking up on them today, not sure if the salt has affected the Zuchinni but they all flopped tonight, cant have been a stuck siphon as tomatoes arent flopped.

water temp is a nice 23c low of 18.4 at 5am outside temp of 30 today.

havnt seen fish again since Acclimatising them then letting them out..... threw some small pellets in... bout 1/2 a tsp

Cool and sounds like a nice trip. What size are the silvers Jamie?
They are really cool fish and you will be surprised at how much the growth rates vary with them.

I love watching my silvers feed with the water temps now up around 22˚C during the day.

They really hit the food hard and cam make quiet a splash! :thumbright:

You will love having them in the tank!

Jamie,
John form Glenburn is a funny fella, he was a little under the pump when I was there today.
don't go to heavy on the salt or your strawberries will suffer.
you can just give you tomatoes a bit of a shake to help them fruit.

regards
Matt

Yeah, was worried about salting too much but also wanted to make sure it was clean after trout were in there.

Trout were very healthy when I got them out so I'm happy that the amount of salt I put in should keep fish happy but also not hurt plants too much, if things do start to suffer I might do a 1/3 water.change

Got some photos of my new seed planting Idea.....

Dig a hole in Growbed (took the bell out so it sat at full height)

Image

Go to Wifes Craft boxes and find some Polyester Stuffing (pillow or toy stuffing) and Lay Polyester in Growbed

Image

Plant Seeds

Image

Cover with a light layer of media (also so i know what i planted where)

Image

I also sat some polyseter under the Growbed inlet..... this is what i got after 3/4 Mins

Image

So i made up some Filters to put under it for a day or two, then i'll clean them and do it again, clears up the fines :) and a frothy or two for good measure.

Looking really good. I find my beds that are topped with hydroton are great for seed raising. Just moved some bean seedlings from the one bed like this in the new system, to another bed that has a trellis for them to climb up. Pulling the seedlings from the hydroton is easy and the roots dont get mangled.

Happy looking weeds :laughing3:

Looking good Jamie ! :thumbright:

Not sure if they are weeds in your GB or those ankle biting grubs? Either way they might be worth keeping a little longer to see how they grow They could prove useful in your old age?

Thats a good idea metal, but then whats going to happen to the polyester in the GB that you put your seedlings on? Won't it rot/clog staying in there?

Well it won't rot cos it's polyester, but it will just be transplanted around with the seedlings and what ever I can get rid of without hurting root systems will come out.

That's the plan anyways, plans do change though ;)

Hey m3tal, I got some polyester batting at the crafts store and next to the polyester kind was some cotton batting. That would probably break down if you wanted the stuff to, over time.
