Going through the fishing regs, it would appear an inland / freshwater fishing license is required to take native catfish in wa. Mind you the limit is something like 40 odd. I am not sure that shelling out $30 or so dollars for the license is worth it when I can buy a couple from the aquarium shop for same. I would also think that they would live in the same location as freshwater mussels which does not require a license. Anyone with a freshwater licence?

The regulations pertain to the various catfish found in WA, especially up north....

The "eel-tailed" catfish... Tandanus Tandanus... is not native in WA....

Hence the translocation issues...

He's right though Rupe - you do need a license over here to fish the waterways. Only exceptions pretty much are yabbies, gilgies, koonacs and mussels.
