We've had a rather unusual siphon experience when playing around with different methods and means of running a siphon in the system... The dancing siphon..

Whahhh??

Pardon my ignorance, but what sorta siphon is that? I've not seen one like it?

My siphons are just regular BYAPesque standpipes and drains, with a bell added to the setup? I've not seen one with wobbly dancing legs a-la-yours!

Just playing with things, you know.... Gotta keep playing with new ways... :)

Surprisingly it does reasonably well at emptying the bed and starting again. Unfortunately all the "dancing" causes the bell to get moved and it tends to jam a little... Still working on it...

Hang a disk or cone under the outlet and let it move around instead.

I had the same issue when I try to convert my Stand pipe to an affnan style siphon.
I didn't think to extend it like that to stop it pulling up out of the plug housing! :support:

I ended up putting a threaded adaptor through the hole.

The standpipe and outlet should be solid not loose and leaky like that one. The bell should be the only moveable part in an autosiphon.

I never was one to conform to what your supposed to do. :) And the crazy thing is that somehow it actually works...

It can knock the bell around a bit and this can cause the bell to move and then jam the inner pipe after a fair few cycles. Further playing required..... :)
