Well temperatures got too hot the last heat wave and took out almost all the yabbies (all the bigs ones as well) from our BYAP underbed growbed tank. So I took the opportunity to clean out the tank as well. Man, does the water smell bad...

So the question is does anyone know where to get cheap live yabbies to re-stock our tank??

Ivan, try this guy (Peter 0427548889). He's got a property out in the wheatbelt but spends the weekends in Perth.

Try Ian from cambinata yabbies. They normally do yabbies for food (export all over the world). I just spoke to him and he can arrange you some juveniles or some seconds cheap. (Seconds: restaurants won't want ones with non matching claws or whatever.)

Won't put his number online but PM me for details.

(Ian is in Perth every few weeks so delivery is easy)

They always sell live yabbies at Currillies fish shop in midland on great eastern highway.
Sell them by the kg which makes them pretty cheap per yabby.
Their fish prices are pretty good too.

Aquotix in CanningVale sell them for $1.50 each at a decent size, don't know if that is cheap or not...

Possibly better off getting them from a seafood place, they sell jumbo live yabbies by the KG.

We just cleaned out our underbed yabby tanks over the past few days, in the two tanks we had an estimated 250 or more yabbies of all different sizes, most of them small.
