It was a surprise and a little upsetting, I have a tank cover (50mm mesh) but it obviously wasn't good enough and there were a couple of small gaps between the top of the tank and the mesh. You can see pics of tank previously in the thread. I have since added the following changes, see pics, to hopefully fix the issue until I can complete the garden works and build a new permenant lid.

Mean while the remaiming trout are very quiet, they have not really fed well since this find. Hopefully its the weather  and not something more sinister. I tested water and all seemed OK. Plant growth is going well and the produce tastes amazing.

Pulled out some Broccolli and plants a few chillies, can't wait to add additional Gb's

Trout will chase running water or air bubbles, even flies lol, quite often to their own downfall.

Fish are looking great. Unfortunately I had another jumper the Sunday  , I am now looking to change to 25mm mesh and attach it firmly to the top with hinges for access. Hope this stops them. A little excited as today I think I have sourced a reasonably priced sump tank (2850 litres - 1200mm x 2200mm x 1100mm). It is the right size and shape to fit in space and more importantly will minimise the digging I have to do. This will allow me to expand over the next few weeks and still leave room further expansion.

I really should cut the grass before I do anymore work on the AP  .

Well I got the grass cut and some work on the Ap system as well before the rain. Lucky I am working all long weekend as the weather is no good for working outside. No more jumpers (touch wood). Once expnsion is underway I will finish main fishtank with new mesh and some landscaping.

Ordering new sump tank (2850 litres) next week and then I can put additional FT and fingerling tank in line. Additional grow beds also planned. Family and visitors all impressed by the system and the produce that it creates. Nearly time for my first trout before the weather heats up and I lose all of them.

Have managed to get the trout through the couple of hot spells we have had. Water got up to 23 degrees but all seemed Ok with no visible signs of stress. Was obviosly over feed as Ammonia was at 1.5 on last test. Didn't feed for 2 days and back to zero today. Trout are a good size and i will probably need to think about harvesting soon. No progress on the extension over the last few weeks but hope to get into it over the next week and start on some Silvers.

Vegies doing well and they taste fantastic :headbang:

Impressed the family with AP grown Honey carrots and roast Parsnip for christmas lunch yesterday. Everyone commented on flavour and freshness. Weather here is lookng lke hearting up this week so I think the trouts days are numbered and I will have to get some Silvers in to replace them. Have just planted up the beds and now christmas is out of the way, if I get a few spare days this week I will start on the expansion plans.

Temps getting up a bit here this week, FT is was at 18.6 this afternoon. Not sure how we will go when it gets to 38 on Friday. Might be time to harvarst, at least some of the trout. in next few days. On the bright side I got the fingerling tank hooked up and working today. Now I can get some silvers and continue with phase two extensions. Pics to fllow in coming days.
