As you know i have been an active member on the three forums since they started offering advice and helping where i can
Last night i put a post on Garys forum congratulating him and Crusty [Paul Veitch ] that since Wilson Leonards paper was published they have been good boys not[ nit picking ]
I also mentioned that you don't see Holden and ford pulling each others car to bits
Also i said if you had a product you thought was best[ Garrys Baby Q and Crustys commercial setup ] push it
Ps dont tell Gary my new trout system is like his baby Q setup
Also i would liked to have seen the finnished setup that Crusty is doing
I received an email

I've just deleted your most recent post.

You will have read where I have requested that people who want to take personal issue with me (or other forum members) will have to do so by PM. but this is the most open forum in the world

You're correct......I have taken a decision not to react to the BS that Murray and his crew hand out......and I'm not allowing others to dish it it out on APHQ either.

Just for the record......I'll never stop commenting on the technical aspects of aquaponics.

You need to be a bit more objective.......I've been copping crap from others for years

My advice is that, if you don't like what I write, you don't have to read it.

Regards.....Gary
So if that is what you get from the most open forum in the world sorry i am out of there

Many of us have known that for years Milne, GD and his "forum" is open so long as you don't even give a hint of dissent against anything he says.

I hear you, your not the first. But Gary stands by the following (misconceptions he calls them), which you cant argue with or the post will be deleted:

* Grow beds must/should be 300mm deep.
* Grow beds can act simultaneously as solids/biological filters.
* 30kg of fish per 1000 litres is a useful stocking density rule of thumb.
* One fish per 10 litres of water
* For each litre of fish tank volume you must have 2 (or one) litres of grow bed volume.
* Aquaponics is easy - just add water and shake.

It takes little for an experienced aquaponicist to blow holes in these widely held notions but they continue to trap new-comers to our discipline......so it's important to revisit them often.

Wow! Maybe they have so many members they can afford to alienate experienced, helpful, intelligent and well-balanced and un-biased people. That is pretty Sad F&F :( :support:

The bullshit, back flipping and revision of history by GD is legendary... and seems to be becoming even sillier...

A recent thread post by "Gary D" ... "Fundamentalism in Aquaponics" ... seems actually to contain posts, or part of posts by "DaveOponics"...

http://www.aquaponicshq.com/forums/show ... #post26012

So I can only surmise that "DaveOponics" is also under "moderation".... and that "selected" parts of his posts are being published at GD's whim....

It appears that dissenting opinion is still not tolerated on th APHQ site...

Not unusual for the "most open forum in the world".... which is sad, because having recently opened the forum to public view, and endorsing aspects of other peoples arguments and recommendations, like Dr Lennards tool.... it seemed to be a major step forward... and an indication of a degree of "reconcilation"...

I'm at a lose to understand how, after endorsing the tool provided by Dr. Lennard, which basically demonstrates that the long held view that flood & drain media based aquaponic systems... stocked to a maximum of 30kg/1000m3... with appropriate filtration capacity, of a minumum 2:1 ratio... work, with out the need for solids removal.... "in perpetuity"...

Can somehow be construed as a "vindication" of Gary's postulated "long held views".... rather than a complete repudiation...

As to Gary's claimed "long held views"... and other revisions of history.... well, frankly IMO... he is being dis-ingenuous... at best...

:support: I hear that you are not the first Milne, and I guess that you wont be the last either. You are always welcome here, due to your valuable input and willingness to help others. I've always thought that is the best thing about the forum, people sharing ideas and helping others. :)

I feel for you Milne, and basically there’s bugger all you can do about it, you’re better off ignoring things over there and carrying on in those places that accept different points of view.... :D

Many of the members on here wouldn’t have much of an idea about some of the things that have happened in the past with the politics that have gone on. I cut my posting down to an absolute minimum on here for the past couple of years because anything I say tends to be sucked out of this forum, and posted up “over there” with a personal interpretation and critique. Quite frankly it sucks having your posts put up on a different forum with others offering their biased social commentary, in a forum where you can’t even offer your own point of view or defend yourself.. I imagine this post may also suffer the same fate.

Anyway, I can only put it down to jealousy perhaps... The constant knocking of kit suppliers is becoming rather repetitive. Come on Gary, if kit suppliers are so bad, if you can make so much better systems than others, then do it. You're the small business adviser, with all the years of experience. Get out there and do it. Design, build and supply those systems you keep talking about that are supposedly so much better and cheaper than what's currently available.
After all, if they are so much better and cheaper, then you can’t lose...

I can’t see it happening, because that would require a risk. When you can sit behind a computer in your own forum world that’s totally controlled by yourself, why go out and take risks? Gary likes to think of himself as an underdog “copping crap from others for years”? More like dishing out the crap. If he’d just shut up and get on with whatever he is doing rather than trying to pick apart everything from other forums there would be no problem.

I have remained silent about this for years now, but for gods sake Gary, get over things, and get on with whatever you’re doing. And no, it’s not your job to try and be the self appointed aquaponics sheriff. Do positive things yourself, rather than just trying to pick apart what everyone else is doing. You supposedly designed “an aquaponics system that really works” and argued about how good it was for months, but over 12 months later you still haven’t even built it. Theoretical is only theoretical, we have many, many hundreds of systems out there in people’s homes, they are working well and people are loving being able to do aquaponics..

Come on Gary, do some positive things, make some systems "your way" and talk about them, don’t just try and pick fault with everyone else, prove your point through positive action not spiteful words and manipulation. You can’t gain credibility just through talking and being an "armchair theorist".

Phew... Sorry Milne, bit of a side track there.. Personally I've never had an issue with anything you've ever said. :thumbright:

Perhaps you should offer F&F a free membership to the Backyard Farming Forum so he can still have 3 memberships to at least something.
