I just walked the few metres to gather a salad.

Has anyone yet coined the phrase "food metres" ?

If not, I claim it in the name of Aquaponics :)

if so, oops sorry :(

I think having your "most used" food source close to you kitchen/cooking area is an important aspect of AP design and one that is often overlooked.

my plan was always to use my fist (and so far only) test system as a fish nursery / herb garden at my kitchen door, and put the bigger (currently in progress) chift pist system a a bit further away for the sunlight it would get. The problem is, my herbs aren't doing so well. I read in a garden book somewhere that herbs tend to like undernourishment.

Can depend on the herb, some herbs love heavy feeding.

If you take all three does that only leave 117 things left to do?
