Embi,
Had 50, dragged out 17.
every one of them plate size :(
Not willing to dredge the tanks again due to stress,
but the water looks like its clearing a little bit.
better bring your own on Saturday, mine will probably taste a bit manky!
Cant see more than 30cm into the water....

Rupe,
I think we need a sticky thread called "Bugger".
It has become the standard "Pat on the back" when things go wrong...
But it makes you realize that others care... :support:
Thanks

Hi all, I've been a bit tied up lately at work, but I have been experimenting with a cooling tower, it worked well, with water dropping 0.5 degrees with every pass through it, but was not big enough to handle the throughput.

After yesterdays heat hiccup in Melbourne I decided to get off my bum and do the freezer thing.
A couple of weeks ago I siliconed all the joins and the drain hole in the freezer, and left them to cure in the open air for a few weeks.
This morning I crossed my fingers and filled the thing with water.

So far so good. No leaks.

I've coiled 50 metres of poly hose around in the freezer below the water level, and I'm pumping tank water through this as a heat exchanger. I have done this as a precaution so that if the side wall falls off the freezer , I wont pump my whole system out onto the floor of the shed.

The plan was to have the freezer as a fish tank but it has occured to me that if I keep the water systems seperate, I can use the freezer later as a fresh water purge tank.

Freezer temp has been set via an external thermoswitch to come on at 18*C and turn off at 15*C I dont want to be running the cooler all the time, just when it is needed to keep fish alive.

I'll keep you posted Milne.

Are you sick of people asking how big are the fish??

I picked up a new FT the other day, 1000 x 1000 x1300 high, Sitting up on a 250mm base
12mm laminated glass wrapped in a frame of 316 grade stainless steel angle.
inlet and outlet come up through ports in the base so no holes in the windows. :thumbright:
and a base is clear so I can light it from underneath at night if I wish :headbang:

Frame needs a bit of stickytape removed, but I think it will make a real showpiece

Chris (Pictured) helped crane it onto the trailer... now I just have to get it off :dontknow:

Thats a monster,..... Last one I saw that big was Aquamad, he had a tank about that big, but it cracked, and water started squirting out the side. Whats the first thing he did when it started leaking?

Grab the camera so he could take a photo to post up... :headbang: :funny1:

I hope yours doesn't follow the same path.... :)
