Commonly known as soldier bugs. Dunno if they do much damage but can get build up big numbers at times

Since the temps are hitting the 30s now as winter quickly approaches I've taken growing plants using fish poop as fuel indoors with what little space I have :( I wish I had enough space in my basement for a full grow room but alas I must make due with this recent project that I started towards the end of the summer using very old equipment (from 1993) combined with a free fish tank and stand that I acquired from someone who travels too much to be able to deal with fish.

I seriously need to be less lazy and focus and mod my aerogarden and hook it up to this to grow some herbs. Perhaps I should have ordered a little pump and CF bulb override thinger from aerogarden's website instead of flame moss this weekend!

Doh it's been a while since I've posted on byap =/ I should have said that the temps are nearing freezing rather than just an arbitrary number... lol I'd be growing plants like crazy outside if it was 30C! Sorry. :notworthy:

Yin & Yang CPDs by mikeytitan, on Flickr

Did someone order EXTRA PEPPERONI? haha

These are my mini trout looking fish called Celestial Pearl Danios doing the yin & yang love circle... They max out at about an inch. Maybe if they spawn enough I can collect a bunch and make 1 processed filet.

ROFL it's a bit off topic but they reminded me of this scene while they spun around eachother...

Bug porn can lead to unplanned beastie clusters.

I found these 12 hours after filling a new GB with an inch or so of water to weigh it down a bit.

It's amazing how quickly critters take advantage of fresh real estate.

Ok I'd like to resubmit a newer picture of my Aquarium that I am growing Bak Choi out of the top of. I also rescaped it which you can see with the new plants. I didn't mod my aerogarden yet. I kind of just took out the base and am using the lights... lol... It's a test to see if my fish will disturb the roots of the plant. I guess I'm trying to start doing indoor AP for people who aren't big fish eaters (or feel sad eating their "pets" like me). I'll eventually have to change over to food approved trace minerals rather than the aquarium "Seachem" line of products. My fish have gone through a couple of months and are disease/parasite free. I had a little set back that I wrote about in my AP post but yea Decorative Aquaponics! more details here and sorry for the giant pics... darn timed edit XD:

and my picasaweb album with the AP/aquarium pics:

This one might need a little imagination. Or a little photoshop, or just a delete key :)

Hands up who just spent an hour standing under an umbrella in a lightning storm trying to get a photo of my new system with a bolt of lightning overhead.

It was never going to work, but It would have been pretty cool if it did :)

I'm now the proud owner of 120 black squares, and this... slightly less black square :) That's my grow bed in the foreground at the bottom :) I swear it's there, just under the horizon... it's black... thats why you cant see it! :) and anyway, night time relates to aquaponics. :)
