I guess you still get a kick out of having a meal without leaving home Rupe?

That is the part I like best about all this AP and raising gardens and animals stuff.

Trout envy, hum, I guess I'll have to try eating trout before I'll know about that.

To me trout tastes like a mild version of salmon. Almost halfway between a white fish and salmon (red fish). I noticed the AP trout aren't as red as the trout caught in the wild. Anybody else notice that too? Personally I love the taste because I like salmon but always thought it could be a little too strong. Trout does have a lot of little bones but it fillets easy or if you fry it the little bones become edible.

I guess it just depends on the person, some don't like trout.

Come on Rupe!!! How did that Silver taste??? Mine are eating like crazy now and the water temp is just 16oC. My wife is on my back to eat one... but I'm still holding back.
By the way... how did you cook yours???

Colin, Silver Perch are very mild in flavour... as are to some extent all freshwater fish....

For people brought up on strong saltwater fish... snapper, bream etc... it might take a few feeds to appreciate a freshwater fish like Silvers....

I just pan fried that one.... which isn't probably the best way to do Silver Perch...

Being mild flavoured... one of the advantages of Silver Perch is it will readily take up other flavours... and baked, curried, souped, stewed etc... gives you endless options...
