That's a great tidy looking system. And a tidy garden as well.
It'd be great to see how it develops.

I am working on lowering the PH of the system to assist in plant nutrient uptake.

Finally got the PH down to around 7.5
Hoping this will stimulate plant growth.
Having a heck of a time with birds and bugs.
Do you guys with greenhouses have trouble with pests much?
Latest readings
AM 0.25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 40
PH 7.5

Have had 8 inches of rain in about 2 days. My sump tank is pushing itself out of the ground and is very deformed at the moment.
Checked on it early this morning and was worse.
I shut the pumps off and left the air pump running.
Supposed to get up to 10 inches of rain between today and tomorrow.
On top of all that I may have to spend the night at work!!

I would love to, since we don't need quite this much at once!

Hi ebeacham!

I'm intrigued about the mussels in your raft tanks. I'm thinking about getting some for my system.
Do you grow them to eat them? or did you just use them to cycle the system?

Do you need to feed them if you already have fish in your system? or do they happily live off whatever's in the water already?

Cheers,

Jackal.

Gee thanks gnash, it's freakin' pouring here in Canberra, and forecast to rain for the rest of the week, including Saturday (and a balmy 12 degreesC).

Hey ebeacham

didn't know you were so close.......I'm here in wilmington....if your up this way stop in.....

where did you get your mussels? I would like a bunch to put in my ST, every little bit of filtering helps...

btw...great system...

I have a 12 x 33 foot greenhouse and most pest in winter are mainly white flies.... I have skinks, and put ladybugs in there...

Thanks,
I have had to shut down my system for now. All that rain has deformed my sump tank and I suspect it leaks. I recently had surgery and am not able to do any digging and such for a while. i will move the set-up to higher ground this winter and be ready for spring. I did not want to risk killing the fish!

JT, I got them via e-bay and I might take you up on the offer to come by soon, since I have the next week off.

Jackal,
I just got them from a guy on e-bay. I was using them for extra filtration. I did not have to feed them.
