I am growing some heirloom white and purple carrots atm and while I had a poor germination rate those that did sprout grew well, only problem was when the hit the bottom of the GB and kept growing it pushed the top of the carrot up into the sunlight (the purple bit in the picture) which made that part of the carrot bitter. I might have to make a special deeper GB for carrots.

Wow Simo - haven't seen the white ones before. I've been growing the red ones and some purple ones, but not white. Will have to keep my eye out.

Yeah, noticed that my SPs had a strong preference for greens during the cold weather, though they usually took a few pellets most days.

I bet they're eating a lot more now !

I have the purple ones in my dirt beds, they were some free seeds that were going around, cancer awareness maybe?? They are amazing how they have such a purple outer but are bright orange inside, also really sweet and yummy, much better than orange ones.

Looking good.

Water cress in the tank top tubs was getting hammered by the sun so I made little shade cloth covers for them and they haven't looked back

could you perhaps plant them in a plastic cup with the bottom cut out? like a tall veggie riser or grow tube? or a tote that had no bottem so yo would only need a small amount of extra media? you could add it as they grew out. in soil i keep adding to the top of my potato plants until i have them from one old tire to a stack of 3 or 4
just an idea to cope without a new deeper system
