Gotta give them a week or two without food Lucky. If your water is exceptionally clean you can get away without the purging. The skretting pellets are very flavourful though, so I'd say thats what tainted them.

Why the 'upgrade' to Vista? Windows 7 has been released and it's magic :)

Hi OBO

Didn't have the opportunity to purge due to them expiring early during their relocation.

Will purge for the next harvest.

The computer came with vista, so that's what I'm using.

Did you manage to find any fish suppliers with fish to supply?

I have no experience with trout so I don't know if this suggestion would be of any use.......

Anyway, the cook always soaks the cleaned/gutted and/or filleted fish before freezing or cooking, Often in icy salted water.

Hey Lucky, farmer I get mine from says to add salt to the system 1 week before harvesting trout, adds to the flavor, his dams are permanently salty, Golden Ponds in Mundijong will still have trout but maybe closer to the $5 mark
Rupe had the best suggestion for Windows Vista, but really nothing you need works with it, but no doubt it will be sorted just before the release of the next windows

Regarding Vista ,, I run two laptops one XP and one Vista. I heard all the rumours of Visat problems ,, is simply not true,..... Vista home PREMIUM is great NIL issues in 6 months.
For resizing ,, I use "Picassa" for storing all my pics ,, it auto resizes , great programme and free, free, free.

Stay on track guys, The question was about muddy tasting fish, not which programs to use  Thanks for the info though!

Should have all of the plumbing fixed in place today so will hopefully put a photo up for your viewing pleasure.

If I keep the hydroton wet how long will the bacteria live for before I start to pump water through? Will hopefully add goldies late this afternoon.

You have to keep the hydroton wet with fish tank water though, chlorinated tap water will nock the bacteria off straight away....you have until the bacteria run out of food, I'd say a day or two at most, but even so it will recycle pretty quickly.

I got 500 Silver Perch from Gidgegannup, they will be supplied the local AP'ers after trout harvest.

Oh and BTW Chappo, you reckon Vista is good, Windows 7 is heaps more gooderer. Its like the performance jump from win 98 to win xp.

Hi all, Here's a quick update,
We have packed it all up and moved to Christmas Island.
The system has been split up and sent off to Greenmount and Bunbury to spend a holiday with friends
Sadly it could not fit into our sea container with the rest of our stuff.

So, am now on the hunt and scrounge for anything that I could remotely be used for an AP system.

Cheers

Lucky

Saw a bunch of IBC's being offloaded in the port last time I was there. Just have to figure out who uses them... doubt they would bother shipping them back.

Hope you managed to score a decent place?

Yep, got a good house up at Drumsite. Have located one IBC - that had round up or similar in it :upset:
Let me know if you remember where the others could have gone?

When were you here last?

Been twice now for a week at a time for some maintenance work. Last time was about February, had fun driving around to the little bays and snorkeling.

I would guess Christmas Island Phosphates and the detention center would be the most likely users of IBC's in quantity.
Might be worth a trip to see the guy that handles all the misc freight as well he seemed to have a lot of stuff lying around.
Don't remember the name but I marked it on a map for the other guys at my work as he was a pain to find the first time. Entry to where the shed is a dirt track into jungle.

Thanks Privatteer, I'm working for the mine and have not come across one yet, have been out hunting though! The area you have identified is called 'Central workshops' because it is a workshop in the centre of the island. Yet to get out there, have driven past a few times.
Good work on the map, when are you coming back?

No idea, it depends on if something breaks down. Sometimes do a maintenance visit but that is rare.
