My name's Pete and I'm an ...umm, wrong meeting, err, forum sorry! Probably a similar addiction tho'!

First off I gotta say this place is a wealth of information and a genuine credit to all the good folk who have taken the time to post here. I've been spending way too many hours, of late, lurking and soaking it all up, and the photos, we all like photos! Reading through the trials and tribulations of others systems has, I dare say, gotten me started on the right track.

I've always been interested in breeding large tropical fish and hydroponics and even thought of amalgamating the two but was always suss of my plumbing skills and excess claims for more wet carpet. I can't believe I never even thought of moving the whole shebang outside! I blame it on the Aztecs. I hear they started it but Billy Thorpe could've at least made it clearer in the lyrics!

I also have an aversion to bending and digging (more from breaking backs on motorbikes than reading about OBO's system!), live in a hard clay rural area with tank water and more rabbits than the mad dog can round up or eat in a day. An off the ground aquaponics system is the go!

I have some ideas brewing in my head and look forward to sharing them in the systems thread. I'm probably a bit like Nocky when it comes to sketchup and am more at home with mud maps, or scratchin' stuff with a stick in sand while sinkin' stubbies, but I'll give it a go anyway!

@gnash06 - Cheers mate. If it doesn't work out I reckon I'll at least wind up with a bloody ripper home brew system! :drunken:

@Sminfiddle - Heh heh, there's no tricking you Rick! I was all ready to change it to this too...

The f hole is an Ibanez I picked up in the late 80's. I'm guessin' it's pre '75 due to the lack of a serial number so maybe a bit of a classic. :dontknow: My kid had to do a speech in his music class and proudly proclaimed to all his dad has a cool f hole, to which they all burst out laughing. I dunno, the 'yoof' of today, shows you where their minds are at! :)
