Actual crows tend to be scared off by pie tins and such, I'd think a motion sensitive light would probably do it for a night heron.

I have heard of old scratched cd's hung up around the garden are good bird deterance basically shiny objects and tartly stuff like old shopping bags. It's what the old market gardeners used to use and still do in some parts

Lorikeets set their watch to dads almonds and when the apples form seeds,CDs and nets don't work he still loses the lot.
For some reason they aren't as interested in the Apricot which is right near the other 2 trees

Maybe he should hang apricots on the other trees

I went to this winery out nannup way and they produced stone fruit wines and they had a digital bird call going through speakers all over the property. I've Also seen people hanging fake owls from the trees. These are commercial growers trying every thing. In Darwin I've seen they let the mangos go wild on the perimeter and trim the ones in the middle so the bats get the ones on the outside and leave the middle ones alone. Just a few ideas that may lead to a solution I hope
