Gnash - I call them foggers. We had a thread on them a long time back. THe thing you need to be aware is that the common view is that the nutrient does not end up in the mist, just the water. This makes them suitable for striking, but not growing. I have 2 set up in a 60 litre container (coverred of course) and was suprised to find that even though they were on all the time, they did not seem to provide the necessary moisture to keep soft cuttings (like toms) alive. The things that did live seemed to do so because they were receiving moisture from the condensation on the cover flowing back to the bottom via the cuttings. Will be interested to see how you go. Another thing to be aware of is that over time the water will warm up a bit from the mister.

J,the tank /tub is on the patio.vb thanks for advise, will see how it goes.
one of the reason i want the fogger going is so I can cut a square type hole in the front of the foam esky and silicon clear perspex over it to let out the light at night and give the tub a good look

Make sure you cover that hole up during the day - cause newly developing roots want darkness.

I'm trying to think of all the cooling measures I know...

Is the tank raised off the ground / close to the ground (it's not buried)? Its a bathtub, right?

If it is suspended from the ground - eg hanging from timber and brick supports above the concrete floor - and there is air flow under the tank, maybe some of the swampy runoff can be diverted to wet the concrete under the tank and add some more evaporative cooling below the tank. It might look a bit grubby, but it might help.

Ended up wetting the ground under the tub, which worked ok ,down a full degree on the hot days.
Tryed changing the set-up this arvo.Put the water grow pipe above the gravel one, pumped straight to it and let the water run down from that pipe to the gravel and back to the tub(Results-will change back tomorrow :| )To much stuffing around and adjusting to get the water to flow right,it doesn`t help that im using sml retic pipe for the water either.
Will look in to geting a bigger grow bed this weekend and I might retire the white poly pipes for a while.

Hey Gnash, my water temp hit 31 degC yesterday, all goldies survived - in better condition than I did, probably - 42 - 43 degC here most of yesterday and hotter expected today. How's your temp, and how's your fish ? :angryfire:

Big Mick, sorry it took so long to reply  but I`m doing exams at the moment as well as working(well at least pretending to  )
The fish are going fine. It hit 42 deg here last week but I`ve made a new cooling system for the grow pipe and also been wetting under the tub(Jaymies idea) and the tub hasn`t gone over 30.7 deg so far.
The last bream is still going fine as well.My dog Spud got into the fish food container two day ago and ate most of the pellets(and half the plastic) so he`s in the bad books.I would of hated to be him the next day :pottytrain5:
I`ve taken the second pipe away and just using the gravel one as I need to get more fish which = more poo.
trying to find a photo of the shade cloth cooling system for you to look at,its just letting the swampy water run down the cloth and hopefully the breeze cools everything(seems to work)

SOMEBODY THROW A BUCKET OF RED DUST AT ME

ITS RAINING[glow=red]`

Cant belive it I`ve spent the last couple of evenings adjusting flow rates and watching drains to make sure everything is flowing correctly and down it comes.Of course the system is flooded and the tub/tank has overflowed but at least it`s rain water

I`m thinking of leaving it in the fogger box as long as possible to see how it goes.

Keep us posted on these- Aeroponics is one of the things that I have had a long fascination with. I'm curious to see how it works. If it works well, I'll be adding an aeroponics bed....
