1.4m Jamie, but if you are making a 3.6m one then I would go 1.2 and not 1.8m. You can pull shadecloth a lot tighter on a pergola, than on a polly hoophouse. Well thats what I would do anyway.

Got a new Koi Air 50L/min air pump and put two large stones in the tank. Wow it really boils now, so was confident enough to turn off the circulation overnight. Tank temp was 16C when I turned it off and this morning had only dropped to 15C.
Hoping to get the temp up so that my silver perch can go out there from the aquariums.

Been growing tomatoes in my greenhouse/shadehouse under 70% shadecloth for years and have bumper harvests. It will be wait and see with the new hoophouse. Got cucumbers, peas, brocolli, lettuce, spring onions, purple sprouting brocolli, basil, roma tomatoes, dill and grape cuttings in the beds, so will see what performs and what doesnt, under the 70%.

is it too early to note growth??... im now torn on the 30 or to go 50......... after last years summer..... if this years like that i reckon i'll need 50 as the 30 is very light.... iv got a sample here its more like netting... dont wana go spend big dollars and end up with thw wrong thing :/

Well to be fair with my comment above, the shadecloth on the greenhouse is only on the flat roof. The walls are laserlite half way up then louvre windows, with the east wall the side of the garden shed so blacked out. Its a mixture.
I reckon I might put a 40mm pvc pipe along the bottom of the east side of the poly hoophouse so that I can roll the shadecloth up to let morning sun hit the growbeds. But in hot spells it will be completey covered

I would go the 50% for sure, 30% is like you said , netting

Expanding the system on the weekend and made a start last night. Two 220L tubs which should take the GB vol to about 1400-1500L

Mantis,
I wouldn't be too worried about the fall as you have it, my siphon outlet has only a minimum fall as shown on the photo and the section shown on the PDF and it has been working fine for a year now.

I would rather do this than weaken the support structure for your GB. Just my two cents worth.
Cheers IanK

You were rignt Ian, they work no problems. Got it all up and running and all syphons working as they should and then noticed bad leakage from the bottoms of the tubs. Got underneath to take a look and saw a raised ridge in the plastic through where I drilled the holes for the syphons, DOH. Dunno how I didnt notice it before I filled the beds with gravel. :upset:
So undid them and chiseled off the ridge either side of the hole and refitted with more sikoflex. Will hook it all up again tommorow and have turned off the new beds till then.
Got a very strange look from the wife when I walked into the house soaking wet and sikoflex all over me :funny1:
