The four grow bed system will be seeded and planted Friday... Power gets run on Saturday...

The big system will be stocked and cycled with some "advanced" trout on Sunday...

Basically... it's done....

Yep desertrat, but still some tidying up to do... and probably some ongoing involvement...

Having taken the load of one shoulder... I've put it back on the other with the Bamarang (Nowra Tafe) job... twice the size...

At least that one is being project managed by the Tafe... but while I don't have to bear that load, I've got the load of dealing with a governement department, especially in relation to payments...

Rup,

Three questions, sorry if they seem obvious.

1. Why wouldn't you want the shade over the top of the system? Isn't that when the plants need the shade the most?

2. How long does the plastic last? I imagine on those hot days it really takes a UV licking!

3. I couldn't tell, but does the shed open to the greenhouse? Seems silly not to have a direct path between them.

It sure is a work of beauty. Will be nice to see it with the rain catchers installed as well!

The Grundfos returning the water from the sump tank sure stirs things along... no problem with oxygenation...

Noticed a perculiarity with the grow bed drainage...

The bed closest to the shed/sump tank drains just fine, and completely... the second drains fine, but only just empties...

The third drains OK, but doesn't empty completely, leaving about 25-30 m...

While the furtherest bed drains very slowly... leaving about 60-100 mm in the growbed...

Took me a while to figure it... a combination of the shed slab height, pipe risers to empty into the sump tank.... and the fall in the greenhouse over the 12 mtr length...

Means the bottom of the last growbed is slightly below the level of the top of the riser... and the water wants to equalise in height...

Don't see a huge problem, as the next flood will mix the water in the bed(s).... basically just leaving the last two beds as semi drained....

But to all the plumbers out there in forum land... is there an easy solution??
