weather warming up and my big tank is sitting at 18.7deg
small tank obviously warmer so i might grab the trout out of it and put more silvers in there

Pick up another trough this week coming and hook up on the weekend hopefully.

Cheers
Steve

had algae come in fiercely a while back, couldn't see 4 inches below the surface.. but the UV sussed it out in about 3 weeks back to crystal clear. it is on half the day now not full time. been looking around for cheap koi lately just for some colour.. koi and cheap dont really come up too often though.

Gday All .

I am new to this forum and to AP , and am still researching my first system .

Steve could you please expand on the uv thing and algae growth ?

I have a 2000 ltr below ground fish pond with a half dozen trout that are doing well , but cant see more than a couple of CM below the surface due to algae growth .

Cheers Alan

pond water is pumped through a tube containing a UV globe, the UV burns and kills the algae over time. pretty cheap off ebay too..

Looking really great Steve! I will definately be building something similar in the futur. How big are those Trout now?

Alan. I had very bad algae growth in my tank, visability was near zero! Provide the water with as much cover from sunlight as you can and eventualy it will clear and shouldn't come back. I also put some white filter matting at the GB inlet which helped alot.

Cheers

Shaun

trout are all coming along nicely, there are a few in there that i would plate, but i think my system will keep relatively cool into the warmer months.
i am planning some light cooling efforts as well so we will see how that goes too.
