I'm a bit jealous. Mine doesn't look that good and I did most of it similar. I'll have to re-read the entire forum to find what I might have done wrong :? .

We have been really amazed at the plant growth. At about 4 weeks we sowed a pile of seeds into the beds, expecting most not to take, in advance of harvesting plants leading to less nitrogen demand. Amazingly just about every seed planted has taken so we now have peas, pumpkins, kale and chervil coming up everywhere

Now at the three month mark. Fish have been in for a month and they are still doing fine, haven't lost one. They are eating voraciously and start circling the top of the tank whenever we come near. Plants are all doing well. We took out 4 heads of cauliflower this week and we are constantly harvesting herb and now snowpeas. Pics to follow

Hi all
we are now 6 months in and fish have been in for 4 months. We have been going along nicely but have jsut had a hicough of sorts. Initially i was checking nutrient levles daily during cycling then a couple of times a week and for the past couple of months once a week. Everything has constantly been 0 so have been really happy. Checked on sunday and ammonia and nitrite were both up (ammonia at 0.75 and nitrite 0.5). We have rationed the fish feeding right back to once every couple of days.
This morning we awoke to our first casuality, very undersize hasn't looked like it has grown much compared to the size of majority of fish when we put thim in. Checked levels again this evening and nitrite had gone down a bit to 0.25 but the ammonia had gone up to 1ppm.
Any help with explanations and possible remedies would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I would have a good look to see if any more dead fish are in the tank. If not, the ammonia might be a hangover from the the dead one you found. :dontknow:

We are now seven months in and still going strong. The one dead fish seems to be a bit of an aberaton. As suggested i am putting it down to a bad fish. All the others are getting bigger. Plants are continuing to grow strong. Water cress and rainbow chard are some of our best crops. We also have massive number of turnips that are very tasty. Best herb we have going in chervil which we planted from seed.
As the temp starts to increase i am guessing that it is time for the trout to move out and Barra to move in. Can anyone provide insight into when most people around Perth swap over from trout to Barra and also where to source barra?
Cheers

The pictures of the beds were taken about a month ago. The chinese veg was harvested about 2 months ago. We are planning to harvest the first of our fish this weekend so will post some pics soon.

These pics are 7 months after the system was started with fish in for about 4 1/2 months. I killed the first three fish today, hot smoked all three and they were delicious. Dead weight after gutting between 130 and 140 grams each fish approx 25-30 cm in length. We have also started harvsting some of the winter crops from our beds to make rrom fro tomatoes. We took out 3.8kg of turnips (weighed trimmed) and stll have extras in the beds.
