gosh, and didn't the boys have fun last night... Alex finally came to bed still giggling with all their fun. He did mutter something about "oops, sorry Janet for hijacking your thread. Gee that was fun..."

Yes well, "Boys will be boys." So they say. :D
I'm glad they are having fun...as long as they answer questions when I have them!

The ice was off the pond outdoors, and I managed to bring the last two comets indoors. I also cleared the leaves out of the pump, so now aeration is set for the winter. I'm up to a total of 6 comets indoors ranging from 3-6 inches in body length (8-15 cm). Ammonia and nitrite are remaining at 0, nitrate is 20+. Lettuce, spinach, bok choy and basil have sprouted. Pandora the cat really wants a fishie, and my money says she will go swimming within the next month

I talked to the folks at my favorite aquarium store to see if they can get some orange/red mozambique tilapia and some hornorum tilapia, too. If they can, I can set up a hybrid breeding program that will produce 99% boys. I told them about AP and they thought that was way cool. I didn't mention the part about eating the fishies. Actually, since they know me as a lover of cichlids and that I'm capable of breeding gold severums (I've sold fingerlings back to them in the past), it makes perfect sense for me to request seemingly obsure cichlids. And mouthbrooders to boot! How cool is that! Mwahahaha haaa!

I guess if I get the right broodstock, I will need to set up a love shack. Maybe a 50 gal (190 liter) setup with ferns or watercress and permanently flooded....Sigh, does it every stop?

But I have Rubbermaid, plus a spare pump, small heater, and 75 liters of hydroton in reserve....

Well, I need to harvest 150 pounds of tilapia fillet or 18 pounds of basil to break even. I have a ways to go.
