Coupla stinkers Gnash, cooling down OK now though. Pond is a multi-cultural centre - birds and bugs are drinking from my growbeds coz there's no other water nearby, dogs are sleeping under the pond and growbed table coz it's the coolest place around. Fish are getting a 50 litre top-up each day - I don't know which is responsible for greater water loss, animals or evaporation. :dog: :dog:

Did I complain ? -- boy, did I complain ! It did me no good, but these guys will never get to do another job for me !

I'm comming to SA  our price is usually about $700 takes about 4 hrs includes electrical.

Sounds like a bit, but when you consider COST price for 3/8 & 5/8 pair coil refrigeration pipe is nearly $20 per meter now and the sparky takes about $200 that leaves $300 (10 meter run) for a 4 hour job. And when you consider the cost of running a business (pay your own sickpay and holidays and super)..................

But still, $880 is on the pricy side

Makes me laugh when people say "but i can get it done for $500" (which they can) But then we charge $35 per kg of refrigerant and $77 p hour next year when the dodgy intall fails ;)

AM mentioned Transpiration as a water-loss cause a few posts back, and I didn't take too much notice at the time, but maybe I should have - nothing in my environment has changed too much, same temps, samne humidity (or lack of ), no leaks, but bigger, hungrier tommies, and I'm topping up at least 50 litres a day in a 200 litre system. All I can put it down to is Transpiration - any solid figures or educated guesses on this ?

Ummm...maybe there's some splashing? Or thirsty wildlife? I did a little searching and found a study on oak trees in Arizona. They estimated the average daily transpiration from a mature oak tree at 17.5 liters. Given that you don't have 3 mature oak trees in your system, I'd say that your water loss is from more than transpiration.
