Rupert, does the above chart also apply for trout?

No.... trout react to water temperature inversly... or near enough...

And the trout fingerlings are a year old (roughly) when you get them... and only need about 1-2%...

But it's a rough guide for most fish... if you look at it overall...

Hey Lost hippy. Love your system and the use of recycled items. Some thing I have found from keeping fish in the aquarium hobby is an easy way to lower and maintain a lower PH in generally high PH water is to add some wood to the tank. The wood will release tannins into the water making it go a yellowy brown colour but still clear. I have also heard of people using peat and almond leaves to do the same thing.

thanks highlucks.. recycled junk was what i wanted to use more than anything else...but i do get a bit envious of turn key setups..

i was cautioned early in my adventure not to use wood in the water.. something to do with toxins building up as the water is reused and not diluted with fresh or running water. but i will look into it a bit more.. and the almond leaves and peat are interesting...

hi all

its been awhile and lots has changed....

so....

my ragtag system is up for grabs.. anyone interested in the system pm me and i will get in contact..

the system is.. 1 x ibc as fishtank, 1/4ish ibc as growbed, 3/4 ibc as sump, 2 x 1/3 ibc's as growbeds, a couple of baths and 3 x 160lit tubs. all fittings and plumbing.

the pump and air pump as also there..but as they were cheapies and ran for over 2 years i would suggest getting new ones
