Well I went out for a look just then and the filter wool under the gb inlets is collecting a heap of muck. They havent been up to now. Maybe the egg whites I put in today mixed with salty water has done something
Hi VLT
Yeah I didnt really want to change the water as its been running for two weeks now with ammonia sitting nicely at 1

Got 23000L of rainwater so no shortage there if I need it.

Just tried my silver perch babies in the indoor aquariums on a couple of worms from the compost bin. They werent sure what was happening for a few seconds, then a few seconds later, no worms

The compost bins are full of worms at the moment, particularly the one that I put my spent brewing grain in.

Also tried the trout on some spent grain and they ate it but not as quickly as the pellets

Yeah, as a general rule that I have read on aquarium forums, if it will fit in the fishs mouth its food
Got two angel fish in the main tank here and 6 Kribensis that are doing mating dances and colouring up lovely.

so how is the water clearing coming along?

i had muddy water last week which gave my 5cm visibility...added 2 eggs on saturday and on sunday i had 10cm visibility....

might bite the bullet and do a water change once the other bed comes online....

althrough i feel the muddy water shouldnt hurt the fish so why waste water....

When we Build our house, i plan to have an entrance hall with a Large Aquarium built into the wall so its seen in the entrance hall and the Formal Dining, wouldnt mind having it hooked up to some kinda Indoor Growbed housing some indoor ferns etc.

Will get my Angels back then, i gave up when my tank cracked the bottom, due to one of those minor earthquakes we had in melb a few years back. Felt the tremmor at 3am... the herd water dripping into the top of my TV and Mediacentre PC.

Water is not clearing no matter how many egg whites I put in. If I do the water change tommorow the tanks will fill again by the end of the weekend. Big rain coming by the looks.

Chucked a spare pump in the fish tank and its emptying down the stormwater. Flushed the growbeds twice with clean water and the second syphon trigger was clean water. Then emptied the sump. Yabby still there
Fish tank is now emptying and will fill ft and st with rainwater tommorow

Wish I knew where my stormwater was. Somewhere in the back I assume but can't find it exactly.

We have a gully trap so easy peasy here. Dunno if it goes to stormwater or sewerage but meh
Silver Perch are physco fish. Got 8 in the tank that is beside my in the lounge and the big fella, chases the other 7 off any food that goes in there. They spook easily so if I stand right up to the tank and drop some feed in, the angels get some food before the crazy silvers go all nutbag over it
:D

Cleaned out the fish tank and it had a power of muck in it. Also the bottom holes in the riser tube in the sump hole were about 2cm off the bottom of the tank floor, so solids would have had a hard time getting into the growbeds. I tapped the tube down so the holes are right on the bottom.
Running water from tanks into the sump now to refill the system.
