I worked in mortgage post closing for a while in the nineties. There were plenty of interesting and unfortunate names. My favorite was a guy named Peter Pan. He was born long enough after the Disney movie his parents should have known better.

In high school my friend Bill Smith dated Nancy Jones. If they had stuck together can you imagine the looks trying to check into a hotel. And your real names are....

Nocky! OMG I know someone else who went to Carine SHS in 1976 :wave1:

Small world faye, will have to run some names past you, I may have started in 1975 :dontknow: it is all a blur but was thier in 1976 either way, but the year I started only year 8 & 9 were complete and I was in year 9, year 9 form 10 in fact, and 10-10 the following year, finished year 9 and year 10 was ready to go, most of our classes were in portable classrooms down behind manual arts, I think they put some of us down their to keep us away from reality  was plenty of bush down there which was ideal for growing Jamaican Tomato Plants, teachers were scarce so we sometimes were forgotten about  Remember raising heaps of $$$ for the swimming pool but left 3rd term of year 10 before it was complete

Back to the names, the problem is that Aussies always shorten first names, Michael Hunt sounds fine as does Patrick Micock and Jennifer Taylor etc but the Mr & Mrs Kerrs and Kings of the world still have a lot to answer  But parents still should do some serious thinking when name kids
But keep them coming...................

I'm a King, and I get Pa King, Joe King, Nosmo King etc. etc.
So,when we named our three boys, Mark, Troy and Dean; we kept short names so that they couldn't really be abbreviated! so what did they get . . .Markus, TroyBoy and Deano!
Bloody lengthened their names, typical Aussie tradition.

When in Dubbo, NSW, the surnames of a lot of people suited (?) their professions:
Doctor Ben Death (pronounced Dee Ath)
Head PWD pump Engineer Dave Gallon
Head Curator Dubbo Zoo David Butcher
But the most appropriate was Peter C, the Dubbo City Council's Sewerage Engineer, who took great delight in signing as "P.Crapp, Sewerage"!!
Cheers IanK

I used to work with a guy: Teddy Tappit, who was a fitter and turner.
Have a family friend Richard Head.

But the best yet has to be our good friends, the Ness'
They did think long and hard about their twin boys, and named then what they considered safe: Peter and Andrew.

It wasn't until Prep role call that they realised their mistake, half way down the role, the teacher called out:

A. Ness?
P. Ness?

I mean come on! Can you believe that?

A dog in the local races actually managed to get 'Norma Stitz' as a registered name. Much thought and planning went in, as her mother was also called something stitz.
The race call was hillarious as the announcer cries "And Norma Stitz has bounced out... from them on, he couldn't control himself and barely managed to call the race at all.
The owners were interviewed and said their only regret was that she came second and didn't win, if she'd won, her name would have been immortalised before the racing board made them change it.
