me again . .
this time im looking for some breeze blocks or similar i can make a stand for a fg pond with,
pond diameter 1.1 M
weight will be about 700KGs - 1000 KGS

Just wondering what are breeze blocks, as I have never heard that term before?

my understanding is that Breeze blocks are aerated concrete blocks, they're made from cement which has had a metal powder added, they are then baked at high temperature which causes them to expant (just like an aero bar chocolate) making a very lightweight concrete block.
They may also just refer to standard weight concrete blocks.

They are non-structural, decorative concrete blocks that were around in the late 60's used for garden walls to allow the "Breeze" through. Nowadays, people just lay 1/2 height concrete blocks on their sides to achieve the same effect.
Some block manufacturers still make them to order; Hanson, Boral and CSR etc along with the normal structural series 100, 120, 140, 200 and 300 concrete blocks.

Thanks Ian, I think we used to call them Besser blocks.

The other name for them is Besser block or these days concrete blocks, still a favourite for building schools and some commercial buildings.

if you are after a cheap option look around any local building sites after the roof has gone up usually any left over bricks are tossed to the side and thrown out when they do a site clean up they will not be the same size as the besser bricks but the key word here is FREE

Yep i agree. Living Ellenbrook means lots of new houses so i am collecting for my FT, ST & BBQ

I have not heard the word "breezeblock" since leaving UK.

But they are low density bricks.. sort of fluffy ...

I think breeze blocks are similar to large fastbricks ... light and big. Aerated...

Extremely durable and load bearing - and often used for building the inner course of double brick homes.

Grey colour ..

Breeze blocks had a load of tars and stuff in them from coal, steel and petrochemical industries to hold them together..

i found a steel frame used for holding engines in the garage while they were being worked on, should be strong enough

interesting about the building site, theres a 3 storey jobbie going up next door atm . . .
