Probably a thread on this.
I believe you plant at the new moon, transplant during the full moon.

finally i have found time, batteries and motivation all on the same day...

its been awhile but here is some photos..

i have planted different beans this time... first egg plant in months and an average sized silver..

looking forward to the warmer time of year... as my land slopes due south and is surrounded by 2nd growth rain forest...so it doesnt get much sun.. still now it is dry the plants are kicking along...

Good to see an update from you after so long :]

Looks like your system is trucking along nicely, the duckweed pest is especially amusing, and a beautiful pest he is too.

Piss em off, and start again.
Plants are cheap, satisfaction is not expensive and is long lasting.
The satisfaction long outlives any cheap alternative.

thanks snags... great link!!

and i have taken ian's advice and removed the tomatoes and replanted..

took a water test today..

ph 6.8...woohoo!!

but..

amm... 0.5
nitrite.. 0
nitrate.. 0

there is only 11ish fish in the 950ish liters of the ibc.. but they havent been eating much...too cold i guess.. a week or so ago it got to 27 during the day so i uped the feed a bit... about 4 tablespoons a day... but when i was clearing the tomato plants i noticed a mush of uneaten food in the beds(which worms were enjoying..) in the stones where the water drains into..

would this be the cause of the rise in ammonia?? is there concern that there is no rise in nitrite and nitrate levels??

i am not feeding the fish for the next day or so... should i be doing anything else?

thanks for the previous feedback..

4 tablespoons for 11 fish is way too much.... especially as they'll still be feeding lightly due to water temps....

I would only be feeding about 1-2 tablespoons for 30 fish... up to 1kg... and water temps from 14-18...

Any idea what your fish would weigh???

As they get bigger.... the feed requirement and frequency of feeding drops off...

And water temp plays a major part in feed ration... consult the chart below...
