I added a cover to my system in the hope that its pH shock from my acid rain thats causing my fish deaths.

why is it that everyone else system looks so tidy?

its possible that it rainfall splashing off a shrub has been causing my fish deaths.

Viburnum tinus could be the culprit (thanks earthbound)

it might be too early to tell but I think they may have stopped flashing

It would be nice to actually have a win for a change, but I suspect my poor little fishies have been through a bit much.

Can anyone confirm if this is ich?

That's sort of what my Gold Fish were doing when they had white spot/ich. Can you see any white spots on them?

They also would just lay in the bottom of the tank on their side.

I ended up getting some nasty stuff from the pet shop and put them into a separate tank. Treated them for a week as per the bottle, then put them back and they have been as good as since.

I cant see any whit spots but they are silvers so they have a bit of a mottled camo skin colour. Also they dont like me very much after all ive put them through, so they tend not to like me looking at them.

They are still feeding and growing and dont seem to be doing that behavior today so it looks like they might be ok

Ill set up the camera again so I can record them going about their day undisturbed. That 10 seconds was edited out of 1/2 an hour where they might have done the flashing thing perhaps 5 times in that 30 minutes

Maybe just give them some more time. Mine went off there food and became very lethargic.

Flashing is a pretty good indication of "ich"... although fish will "flash" due to other irritations... like "burning" due to pH or ammonia...

Keep the salt at 3ppt for a week or two...

transmission goes something like this...

inside of computer chip fan rubbing against outside of photocopier fan.
copier fan attached to copier fan gearbox.
small copier gearbox shaft attached to large pvc shaft via rubber band
large pvc shaft attached to fishing reel spool arm front rotating assembly
fishing reel internal gearbox
fishing reel handle attached to flexible rubber hose as unijoint
other end of flexible hose attached to drill bit

now I just have to shed another 95% of my remaining rmp and I can dismantle it and do something else

pH is 7.6 steady for ever, and ammonia and nitrites are 0

is there a recommended pH to kill ich?

Ive read that its the change in salt level that does them in rather than just the salt level, so I was wondering if there might be a pH adjustment that might make either the ich unhappy, or the fish less distressed by their ich.
