Haha Nocky. Does that make you a kiwi or well travelled. The last time i had decent whitebait fritters was 89 when on the west coast of south Island. I must also mention when my wife commented how nice they were then followed with what are all the black bits....She didnt eat another bit.

Rupe in NZ they are tiny probably only a few millimetres thick. You get a handfull and mix in batter and go for fritters. They are tasty. Not like the stuff we use for fishing here mate.

But i guess you know that

Nah not a kiwi, some moari guys attempted to cook some here one drunken party, must admit they did nothing for me what so ever, excuse was they weren't the proper fish

Yeah whitebait for fritters are the thickness of straws or less. Oh I am not a kiwi either. However my mum (stepmom) is a moari.

I have 3 silvers 6-7 cm small i keep in a small 1m x 1m, 30 cm deep pond. My bb's are in a much large system, there's a few dozen and are all 20 to 30 cm. As we all here must know what black b's are like, ocasionaly one will need isolating to recover from injury and or stress. I have a third pond for sick fish exactly the same type as the silvers pond. I went to scoop up a sick fish, missed and got a healthy one Put it with the perch for some reason. Didn't want to waste hospital bed on healthy fish was my quick logic as i was very focused on netting the sick fish. When i was done I just left the healthy 25 cm in with the 3 perch, she'll be right I thought. About a week later i noticed that bream's tail and flipper membrains had what looked like straight tears in them sort of like, i only can best describe as what hands may look like with flappy fingers. I quickly put him in a bucket than made a second hospital pond. 3 silver fingerlings injured much larger fish.
