Jim, you seem to be the hydro guru here.

What PH do you run your hydro nutes at (i'm guessing around the 5.5 to 6.0?)

if you have the space and the intrest how about running a side by side hydro / AP trial?

You'll have to wait till your AP is well and trully cycled though.

Then do it again in 12 to 15 months. "Aged" AP systems seem to have hulk like superiority to hydro.

heads ok now......... was rough working this morning, had told the boss to book in first job at 10am to be safe........was sick as a dog last night, then fell asleep in my clothes without setting my alarm.

Woke at 7am with no alarm (unheard of!) Thought "gee i feel good, i'm going to ring my clients and reshedule them for earlier! HA! until my feet touched the ground and my head nearly exploded and the toilet called again  was a tough day, had the shakes and not being able to keep fluids down until after lunch was really rough on a 37.5C day

checked my ap system this arvo, water temp was 28.5C! mys system is in full sun and i'm glad i have 1000lt (800 effective) will monitor temp closely tomorrow as its 37C again......... I have about 3 meters of black poly supplying the grow bed, and i'm thinking this is heating the water too much from the sun. might rap some Al foil around it tonight or tomorrow morning, as its getting a little too close to 30C for me, and i doubt the water will drop below 26C tonight.

Jim, outstanding that yur hydro runs so well at ph 7 ;) I have a mate of a mate who was told about AP and is RIGHT into his hydro, might be meeting up with him onme weekend to explain the concept of AP as he's interesting in setting up a BIG system........

This mihgt seem weird, but i've never had much luck with fishing. I don't catch anything, hence it shits me.

If there is a good chance i might catch a few (or more) then i'll make a day trip of it with my soon to be BIL who loves fishing, but doesn't really like to eact fish, but is keen on an AP setup

Oh, and we'll come pick you up first! :)
