Why are you taking the tomato plants out though ? Won't they just keep on cropping ?

Reason being, I can't have the stems laying around. And they can't keep growing up either !!!

I've seen pics of hydroponic setups where the tomatoes are pruned to a single stem and trained up ropes. As the tomatoes are harvested, the leaves are removed and that section of vine is coiled onto the ground. This keeps the fruiting part of the vine within reach.

Not that I've ever tried it...

with tomatos, I normally pinch out the leader on the main stem when it gets high enough, then bring on another one from the bottom. once the main stem has finished fruiting, cut it all the way back. Even in the dirt garden, my current single tommy is up to its third stem, and fruiting away happily.

Trying it now (single stem, laying it down). Too early to give results but things seem more under control than last year.

I used to get a lot of flies on my mango tree, also on some veggie flowers as well, they seem to love flat leaf parsley flower heads.

Hows your Ceylon spinach going in that last photo? Went crazy in Carls greenhouse here.

It did here aswell EB, that is one of the few I allowed to grow this year....it just took over the garden last summer, and earwigs moved into all the decaying leaves on the clay.

Hi AP Bodies.

Don't you just hate it too loose your post at a click of the mouse :?

Anyway ..my system is in pieces, and I don't think I will glue it together in the 2 near future as of this year.

The old bloke I am sharing this house with wanted to change all the plumbing. So instead of the plumbing comming from one side of the two tables x 3, it went through the middle of all 6 tables !!!!! ....no way .. :upset:

While I am typing this post, it has dawned on me that I could MAYBE just plug in 2 or 4 tables....but my heart just isn't into it here , at this residence.

The old bloke went to pour in half a cup of oil into the tanks the other day to kill mosquito larvey, and couldn't understand why I objected to a straight out NOOOO  Undo the bung instead !!!!! :thumbright:

:support: think of me people while your going through your trials and tribulations....I wish I was growning too 8)
